The Plaza Athenee Hotel Bangkok is currently available at Airasia.Com on a 2 for one offer for its deluxe rooms including ABF. Price comes to around 45 GBP($74.50) per night including service and tax charges. You can book up to 2 adults ,1 child and 1 infant on this offer. Seems to run up to dates in December. You can book say for example 4 or 6 consecutive nights but by booking 1,2,3 seperate 2 night slots the prce seems to be a little cheaper. Having stayed at this fine hotel in the past I think this represents excellent value for money and I personally have not seen a cheaper rate in recent times.
Hope this might be of use to somebody.
Just to add it appears that hotelclub are also doing this offer on a standard room with ABF at 81 USD. Others might know if it is possible to combine this one with another prom code/offer/price guarantee?

Yes, this is an extremely good price, similar to what they did early this year. Thanks for posting. Already checking the almanac...
Good location, excellent service. Possibility of mattress running with Conrad just a stone's throw away.

Is this hotel a good location for a 2-3 night visit? I'm going to be in Singapore and want to do a side trip somewhere. Bangkok seems like a good choice.

Close to Phleon Chit BTS station, and easy to go around BKK with BTS/MRT.
Traffic on Wireless road can be messy at times, but it's not any worse than other part of the city.
So, I'll say it's in a good location.
One thing I'd like to add, though, is that I find rooms needs to be refurbished.

Beeing an Embassy area, the immediate local traffic is not that impressive. Wireless Rd beeing a shortcut, makes it congested at peak hours, as just about every other through road.
As per refurbisment need; I've always been upgraded to Executive Suites where this need wasn't as obvious as other rooms might imply. If not SPG status: pay the little extra for lounge axcess to a very large breakfast, large Hors d'oevres table at Happy Hour, and impeccable service.

I'm in the camp that gets suites and hasn't seen any refurbishment needs.

Is it pre-paid to the AirAsia.com website?

Has anyone been able to book tickets on airasia from the US? I tried to purchase and it kept declining my credit card. I found on several forums where people with cards from the US were routinely declined. Anyone see this?

I book all my Air Asia tickets from the US using a USAA World Master Card, so far with no problems . I also understand that Chase and possibly Schwab cards also work. The problem is in the verification process done by third parties in Malaysia. Try clearing your cache. Try a different browser, I use Firefox. Sometimes IE works when others do not. Be sure that you are registered with Air Asia.
Presently, I am in discussions with a Malaysia Airlines representative (new to FT) who is trying to determine why sometimes the World Master Card does not work with their systems. Note, I said sometimes!

I am not registered with Air Asia. Would that have made a difference? I was trying to book rooms in the Le Meridien on Air Asia using a Schwab Visa Signature (the no forex fee card). It declined several times. Several calls to Schwab CS revealed that no attempt at even charging was made. They said no pings were sent so Schwab neither accepted nor declined.
In the end, I just booked some nights in the Pullman (the other half of my stay is in the Grand Millennium), although I would have wanted to test out Le Meridien, but oh well.

Should be no problem. I have bought many tickets of Air Asia using US cards.I like Air Asia sales where they offer free seats or very low price seats several times. So far find the best prices in that area.

Possibly.
I've never had a problem with Air Asia, using my Capital One Card which has no foreign exchange fees (though Capital One will freeze my card if I make two purchases in a a row). I am registered, but (intuitively) I'm skeptical that it makes a difference.
I did have a problem with Tiger Air once, despite trying several different credit cards. My guess is that once one credit card fails, they black-list you (as defined by your IP address, your cookie, your name, your address, your credit card or something).

I've gone to the AA site 2X and haven't found the hotel. I've flown them about 100 times and the flight was late about a third of the time. Their website is equally well organized and in general their hotel prices stink. I've had the CC problem before with AA and Agoda. Your card's rejected and you find everything's OK with your bank and it hasn't been submitted for payment. Just switch up cards. Their flights sure are cheap though. Worth the pain IMO. wj
