Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - First time on CX - Can we choose our menus in advance (Biz & 1st)

Hi,

I just booked a reward ticket to Hong Kong on Cathay for a well deserved vacation. Going there in 1st class and returning in business class. I've never flown in anything other than economy or premium economy so I don't know much about how it works exactly on board.

I'm a somewhat picky eater, so what it served on board is somewhat important to me. Is it possible to select items from their menu in advance to ensure that I get something I like? I'm somewhat worried that I'll be in back of the cabin and that by the time they get to me most of the selection will be gone.

Thanks in advance

In my experience, CX have plenty of choices available and don't seem to run out of anything. If you have a specific dietary requirement, you could always order a "special meal" and then be guaranteed of something you'll like.

After the menu cards are distributed, you could always have a quiet word to the staff in the galley and sort out the specifics.

In F, I'm sure they will serve whatever you want, whenever you want it.

Thanks OG.

I don't have any special dietary requirements, however there are some foods that I really really can't stomach. I'll take your advice and advise the galley if any of those pop up.

You're looking at an F menu where you can order anything on the menu at any time you like. In J, FA's try their best to serve you something you'd like. I was lucky enough to have an "anything on the menu at anytime flight" in J last time. Hope you're lucky like me?

Hi, sounds as though you may be an SQ flyer who is accustomed to BTC. No, there's nothing like that on CX. However, as stated earlier, they usually load enough, particularly in F, so that everyone can have what they want from the menu of the day. And, as og said, if you mention your desire to the cabin crew, you should have no problem.

On my last flight (in early September, 830, HKG-JFK), I didn't want to eat immediately, having just had breakfast in the Wing. My FA asked for my menu preferences so that they could ensure that I would have what I wanted.

You'll have no problem.

They always load more than enough. I friend of mine usually flies J or F. In F, he sometimes asks (if hungry) for another serving of a specific meal (mostly the salmon:p). In J, he also does that, and if there's not enough if J and there's some in F, the FA will run up to get some (putting F pax's needs first of course).

While this is mostly the case, I've had the SP run out of my choice of meal once when there were only four of us in F, of which two of them were IDID pax, and the other had no status. When the SP got to me, she has already run out of my preferred choice of meal. Mind you, I am DM and was sat in 1A.

As long as you like Chinese food, then you'll be okay as CX always has a Chinese menu in F. And a chinese selection in J.

Eh? Given that the first rule of eating Chinese food is "don't even think about asking what's in this" then I can't see how it is compatible with being a fussy eater!
