I was doing some research on stuff to do around Brisbane and the Gold Coast and came across a site that talked about the "Hinterland." It had some pretty amazing pictures of some of the parks and sites in that area and I was just curious if it is really worth checking out and what some of the realistic drive times to those places were. Some of the places it mentioned were Eagle Heights, Mt Tamborine, Canungra, Lamington National Park, O'Reilly's, and Springbrook. Lamington National Park and Mt Tamborine looked the most interesting to me. I will be flying into Brisbane early morning on a Friday in November and leaving on Tuesday so I will have 4 full days to explore the Brisbane/Gold Coast area before heading to Sydney.

If you want to stay overnight, then check out either Binna Burra (http://www.binnaburralodge.com.au/) or O'Reilly's (http://www.oreillys.com.au/). Either would make a very pleasant interlude, less than an hour from the Gold Coast.

If you would like to indulge yourself Pethers Rainforest Retreat is luxury in Treehouses. Only 10 rooms @ around $350 a night. It's at Tamborine.
