I don't remember the transfer rate for Continental being 2-SPG miles to 1-Continental mile.

Did they just make this change to better reflect their new relationship with United and Star Alliance?

I was looking forward to transferring my spg miles over to continental but not now.

Unless of course it's always been like this and I just didn't notice. And there is always USAirways and AirCanada for 1 to 1 transfers for * Alliance.

Been like that for a while now but not sure how long. Might find better details in the SPG or AMEX forum.

CO's been like that for as long as I can remember.

United changed at some point during their bankruptcy.

Just remembered but there used to be a way to work around this by moving SPG points to Amtrak and then moving Amtrak to CO. Transfer would basically work out at 1:1. If this is still available I would really make sure to do your research since Amtrak has also changed their rules on transfers over and over again in the last couple of years. There used to be a 25k cap for Amtrak to airline transfers annually but that may have changed too.

CO changed to 2:1 on 1.1.2007...

At the same time they increased the amount of CO miles one could earn through Starwood hotels stays (by earning miles directly, rather than Starpoints). This seems to have been an attempt to maintain SPG as a CO hotel partner while hobbling transfers of points earned through other means, notably the credit card. In other words, CO is protecting Chase.

Laundering through Amtrak Guest Rewards will only work if you have AGR "Select" status -or- the AGR credit card -and- have spent $200 on Amtrak with that card. In other words, you need to be a Amtrak customer.

You can easily trade SPG for Amex MR (which transfers into CO on a 1:1 basis) on coupon connection.

I thought you could transfer SPG to MR at 1:1 anyway directly by yourself.

To my knowledge Membership Rewards does not currently accept inbound transfers from any other program. At one time it was an option from Radisson Goldpoints.

Hi everyone!

Mia is correct – you can not transfer points/miles into your Membership Rewards account, however you can transfer your MR points to SPG at a rate of 1,000 MR points = 333 Preferred Guest points or to Continental OnePass at a rate of 1,000 MR points = 1,000 OnePass miles.
