American Express Membership Rewards - Best Membership Rewards Signup Bonus?
For either a business or personal card, ideally a first year free?
There used to be the small biz gold with 25k after $1k in purchases and other bonuses but haven't seen that live in awhile.
Any links appreciated!
Thanks,
Gary

I was just offered (last night) 50k membership reward points with $500 of purchases in the first 3 months and $150 first year waived for the Rewards Plus Gold Card.
Got the offer by going to the AMEX website > personal cards > and checking to see if I was pre-approved.
It's my first AMEX card.

We got the same offer in the mail a few months ago (50K points) no annual fee the first year for small business gold card.
Points already posted and another side benefit is that you can add additional card members and they are automatically entered in membership rewards.
My wife is primary, but I got a card on her account. I used to have membership rewards thru my own Corporate card, but my company stopped paying for it. When I got the Small business gold card, it automatically linked in my corporate card and I am back earning membership rewards points on both.

I got the 50k Gold Rewards Plus offer by snail mail. I usually ignore these solicitations, but 50k caught my eye and finally signed up after realizing how good a deal it really is. It was by invitation only, so I doubt it would help anyone else. Maybe give a call to sign up and they can see if they will pre-approve you with the same offer?

A year ago my wife and I each got an offer (and took them) for 100k points after $1k purchases in 3 months. Great deal!!! We're trying to figure out something fun to do with our points. :D

does anyone know if I can convert from a different type of Amex (Blue) to this Rewards Plus Gold card & still get the 50k points? I'm pretty sure I didn't sign up under a bonus when initially getting the Blue card 5 years ago (if that makes a difference).

Have you received an invitation with a 50,000 point offer? These are typically targetted to specific individuals.
Usually this type of bonus would require a new application, only the "standard" bonus (if any) would be applied on conversions, if you can even persuade American Express to process a conversion.

No I didn't receive the invitation. After reading yellolambo's post above I assumed that it wasn't necessarily targeted. I must have misunderstood...

To test I think you would need to clear the cookies from your browser so that americanexpress.com does not "recognize" you, then follow the process mentioned in yellolambo's post.

Transfer to Aeroplan and take a RTW trip in C or 120K each for F. You can use any star alliance airline pending availability
