I've heard AMEX will no longer offer or honor the one year grace period to return to Centurion if you downgrade to another type of card. Can anyone confirm this?

I guess many policy changes have taken effect so I wouldn't put it past them...

looks like they are trying to get rid of some Centurion members?

I called and confirmed, no grace period AND you have to be invited back!

It's blatant crap that there is no grace period. It's 3 months. It used to be 6. It was never a year, AFAIK.

Once again you have confusion because Amex (Centurion) cards terms differ by country. I believe the original poster was refering to the united states centurion card. On top of that you have absolute idiots at Amex (IMHO) who cause more confusion offering products like the Platinum Optima so Airline employees have to deal with the "why can I not get in with my Amex Platinum?" airport club questions, etc

It makes sense that they want to make their exclusive card even more exclusive.
I personally don't even come close to spending enough on my AmEx to get the centurion. But honestly if I was a very high spender I would really like to feel that my business with AmEx has been appreciated by getting an exclusive/special service.

If AmEx doesn't take care of the centurion it will get diluted and would be very similar to the platinum card.
