Airlines of India - travel to Chennai [MAA]

I have never been to India, live in Seattle area, and am Singapore, Saigon area. Does Air India have direct flights from Singapore to Chanai. I cannot seem to find the resource to obtain this info myself.

First it is Chennai (formerly Madras)

Avoid AI as much as possible, try 9W or IT or SQ.

but really i have had a few people travel from chi to blr on air india ... and other than the issues with long connection times and airport change in mumbai (they went chi - fra - mum - blr) they have been perfectly happy (travelling in business).

Ofcourse they did not have to deal with irrops ... and i have personally not traveled AI in 6 years, but i am not sure a blanket statement is fair.

In looking at the routes from Sea to Chennai, I can fly quite easily and cheaply on UA to Singapore or Bkk. Does anyone have info on what is a better route from these cities to Chennai, appears that there will be long lay overs using Air India. Open to any suggestions.

I've done the trip several times trying all routes - BKK is your best bet.

If you are looking for cheaper option Air India Express operates 2 daily flights between Singapore & chennai, this is an LCC of Air India with all economy
seats.

If you are looking for minimum connection/stopover, you are options are

LH Seattle - Frankfurt - Chennai
BA Seattle - London - Chennai.

Although I wouldn't mind them coming into Star, just so I redeem on their intra-India sectors as well as to the middle east.
