Air France Frequence Plus - Compensation under EC 261/2004 for missing AF connection due to delay?

Traveled Geneva to NYC on AF. AF flight from Geneva was late and missed connection. AF offered hotel at CDG and seat on first flight next day. Is there any other compensation I should claim under EC 261/2004 or other regulation due to the delay in reaching final destination? Thank you.:confused:

There may be compensation for proven damage under the Montreal Convention but only if the airline is unable to show that it had taken all reasonable steps to avoid the damage.
