Hi all,
QR currently offers great C class fares from ZRH to DXB at about $ 1600.- I intend to spend some days with my family there but hesitate to transit via DOH. I could use some m&m miles instead and take the nonstop LX flight but hesitate as well because of the great QR fare. A real dilemma as you can see… Any thoughts about that? How is transiting in DOH and QR in general in C with a 14 month old or would you go for the nonstop LX and burn the miles?
Thanks for your help and best regards,
grischtu
I just transited DOH via the premium terminal the other day, it was no problem whatsoever. You do need to get in and out of buses to go to and from the planes but it was, for example, far less hassle than doing a transit across a large permanent concourse like FRA or ORD.

Hi Grishtu
My wife did the same transit alone with 20 month old Junior and it was no problem. Just make sure you are descending at the second stop from the bus , at the premium terrminal. Otherwise you will end up in the main passenger terminal.
Still a direct flight is probably better, possibly the most annoying part in DOH is you still need to get on another bus to get back on the plane, and might well have to wait several minutes in that bus which adds extra discomfort when one just wants so settle in the cabin for the flight. (actually I've just read properly Tegwj post and this is indeed quite possibly be a more convenient option than a long walk through a large terminal - just don't rush to the bus if you don't want to wait there too long)
Not enough to scare us away from QR which indeed has competitive J Fares as I've just paid today for a new ticket for the 3 of us. Besides inflight service is very good - but seats not too comfortable -and the premium terminal is quite pleasant.

Dear friends,
Thanks for your replies so far. But even showing them to Mrs. grischtu the latter insisted on the nonstop flight and as one could imagine it is not a good idea to mess up with Mrs. grischtu ;)
