El Al Matmid - Upgrade on LY at CDG for 80 Euros

Hi,
I flew twice on paid business class tickets with someone who booked economy tickets and twice for 80 euros my friends got a seat right next to me in business class (not only the seat but the business service also since we sat together in a 767 (only one BC cabin)
Is it the price for an upgrade on this route? a mistake because they only made him pay 80 euro (=seat only) instead of 200 euros for the business class upgrade? Something they do often?

I somehow get the feeling those 80 Euros were the "cash only - no receipts" kind of payment, if you know what I mean ... :cool:

Why to be negative, If he was on Y Class (Y Fare) its possible 80Euro would
be enough to go W or Z.

the other possibility is that the hostess did not know the different between seating service and upgrade and got him upgraded for the price of the seating service...
