Is there access to an arrivals lounge at JFK?

I'm flying CDG-JFK in Affaires. I have a 4 hour layover before connecting onward in Y.

My attempts to search for this answer were not successful. Please direct me to appropriate thread if this has been answered before.

No arrival lounge but if you connect on DL/NW, then you have access to the crown room club, even if you are flying Y on the domstic sector (because you fly J transatlantic). If you don't connect on Skyteam metal, no lounge access, although you can purchase a day pass

Thanks Goldorak.
I am on NW for the onward flight.
Does it matter if they are separate tickets?
I'm not familiar with Skyteam rules for lounge access.
And do you know if the CRC at JFK has showers?

isn't it required to have an elite plus status on skyteam to acces a NW/DELTA lounge even on a transit from a J transatlantic flight?

separate tickets is not an issue but keep your J BP to show them that you're just arriving from international. If you're on NW, then you're probably leaving from T4 ? If yes, the lounge is not a crown room but a contract lounge before security (on the left of the terminal). But it's quite nice. I don't know about showers but you may find this information on DL or JFK web site

No (AFAIK)

Hi Goldorak, could you point to the appropriate link which states that a non-status (even non ST FFP member) would have access to a ST lounge because he/she travels same day on an international ST flight? Maybe it is true, but I was not aware of it. I thought that an AF J ticket gives access to AF departure lounge, but dont see why it would give access to lounge on a domestic DL flight. I thought that this was a perk of elite+, whether or not the international flight was in J.

Hi Brunos
here's the "best" link I found from Skyteam web site
http://www.skyteam.com/about/travelhelp/faq.html

"International First and Business Class passengers, as well as SkyTeam Elite Plus members traveling in Economy Class, enjoy complimentary access to more than 440 worldwide member lounges on the day of travel when flying on or connecting to or from an international flight operated by a SkyTeam carrier."
Many US domestic routes (to not say most ) are now operated only by RJ without first class, so it's often impossible to book an entire routing in international business class & domestic first class. But you are normally entitled to lounge access. Of course some lounge dragons may be sometimes tough ;)

Hi hschlosser !
unfortunately, the answer is no. When you arrive in the USA (whatever the airport), you are always directed to immigration, baggage claim and customs and then finally the exit. So if you are not connecting to international or domestic there is no lounge you can access landside. If you have a "long" time to wait, the best is may be to take an hotel shuttle of the JFK zone and wait there, then return at the airport to pick-up your friends. Choose a nice hotel and it will be nicer and more confortable than the airport ;)
