Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer - BKK-SIN already sold out in C mid-January?

I'm looking to purchase a one way Business Class ticket from BKK to SIN on 1/15 for the SIN Do. However, it appears that C is sold out for the flight I want (on SQ's website). I find that a bit hard to believe. ExpertFlyer shows one seat available:

SQ979 BKK-SIN 6:40pm-10:05pm
Z1 C0 J0 D0 S0 Y9 B9 E9 M0 H0 Q0 W0 N0 V0 T0 L0 K0

Looking at the seat map on Expert Flyer, there's only 3 occupied seats in C. Is SQ holding back on inventory? I'd rather fly SQ, but if it's sold out, I'll have to take TG instead.

By the way, how does TG and SQ compare to each other in C on that route?

That flight connects to the late night flights to Europe and Australia.

Not seat maps are poor indicators of loads - many people do not select seats until check in.

Hi Condition One, SQ released some of the best J/D fares ex BKK only this week and anyone flying Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Japan would have snapped up a bundle for 2010 flying. If you play with the return sector on the net, you can get a A380 on the second leg. It makes the A380 and top of the range flying very affordable, regards bkkrop

I am still on a waiting list for my SIN-BKK (SQ978) segment in March 2010! It's unbelievable how flights are completely booked out 4-5 months ahead. Although an SQ agent on the telephone did tell me I should clear the list in a couple of days because of *G status.

SQ should re-consider about adding an extra flight on the BKK route as there is clearly a high demand.

That would explain it. Good for SQ. Thanks!

Yeah, they have dropped from what, sometimes 7 or 8 flights a day including some 773 (and 747-400's before!) down to 4 x 777-200's. It's very poor!

Hi kaysquare, they are there!! For the first time in constant Asian air travel, SQ are now cheaper than Cathay, Qantas and THAI. Out of MEL they operate 4 flights a day, one of which is an A380, Emirates do 3 THAI do 2 and Cathay are 3, so there are a lot of seats to fill. When you use SIN as a transit on the webpage of the country you want, the current Business class fares are the lowest I have ever seen SQ offer. TG openly admit they cannot match their BKK price. Economy on all the airlines leaving MEL is full, but the forward cabins are struggling. It will not last but it's fun whilst it does and as long as you don't object to the 773 on a sector, SQ passengers are the winners. regards bkkrop

SQ only ops 3 flights a day, except during summer holidays when the flights are all full of student and families, they then put on an extra flight

TGflyer, BKKROP,

Thanks for sharing! I've gotta try a dummy booking on the TG webby to check if TG is indeed more expensive than SQ.
