I have tickets booked for next summer Edinburgh - CGD arrive 9.20am connecting to Pisa 10.15 (both Air France).

This doesnt seem time enough (Booked by Citalia) and I have no idea what Charles de Gaule is like. Will I have enough time?

CDG is huge and I think a rather confusing place to change planes. But these flights come up on the AF website, so it is a legal connection. It is doable but it will be tight however. So to save a few minutes try to get seats as far up front as possible on the EDI-CDG flight. Once you deplane, walk as fast as you can.

You are landing at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Terminal 2E
and your connecting flight is at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Terminal 2G

On leaving the aircraft, follow the signs for “Exit - Baggage Reclaim”.
your route

International Flight Connections :

Go to exit 4 on the pedestrian footbridge. Take the free Aéroports de Paris shuttle to Terminal 2G.

- Frequency: every 5 to 7 minutes from 05:30 to 23:00.
- Free service

A lot could happen by next year, such as AF changing schedules, but I think 0:55 isn't comfortable given you also have to clear Schengen immigration.

It is indeed rather tight. The other possible 1 stop routings are not better, though (LCY-LGW or LHR-LGW connections, very long connection in LGW).

Good luck :)

Very challenging connection. It's very likely that you'll be awaited at the arrival of the EDI flight to transfer you directly to immigration and the PSA flight. As AF has only 2 to 3 flights a day to PSA, if you miss it you can be rebooked to FLR. They have 5 or 6 daily to there and FLR is only 60 km from Pisa.

Just did a couple of transfers thru CDG in the past week, my first time, including one coming from EDI as you will, and it was all very smooth; there is a little extra time built into the EDI flights' arrival time I think, so if it is not late in departing that 55 minutes may actually be a little more. If you are in F from EDI and can therefore use the expedited Acces No. 1 line on arrival, that certainly saves you some valuable minutes. However if your Pisa flight leaves from remote Terminal G -- I think it does but you'll need to make sure -- then you do need to take the transit bus over there from Terminal E where you arrive; no other way to get there, it is too far to walk, takes 10 minutes or so but easy to find that bus right outside E and I'm sure they leave every few minutes, mine was there waiting for me. Had not heard of a direct terminal-change service on de-planing, that would be awesome if needed. But just, obviously, move as quickly as you can thru the arrival process, my hunch is that it works most of the time for most people, barring any major delays -- but then a major delay can mess you up no matter how much time you have, so no point worrying about it...

I frequently get the 0610 EDI-CDG flight you are booked on. My last 3 including one just 2 weeks ago, were to connect to a 1035 flight to Caracas, and it verges on impossible, but yet I've made it,(just), on every occasion. My experiences of this flight are that it will be very tight.

The flight departure can be a little late at times, and with the short connection, that can be stressfull, but as a previous poster said, they do seem to most of the time be able to make up lost time.

There are 3 main problems at CDG.

1. You arrive in the Cityjet park, and are bussed a long distance to the F terminal. The most recent trip, we landed on time, but taxi, deplane, and bussing, it took a full 40 minutes from landing until I was inside the F terminal, by which time they were already well into boarding my next flight.

2. If you have to get a bus link to another terminal, get yourself up the queue by whatever unfair means you can. There will usually be a large queue at that time of the morning, and you can't afford to miss a bus because you are queueing, and the first one that comes gets full.

3. Getting through security/Schengen, the agents seem to live in a different timezone. I have frequently arrived at this, well past my boarding time, and they assure me it's ok, and to just join the queue. If they refuse me the Acess No 1 lane, I humour them, then duck under the rails to the Acess No 1 lane anyway, rush through, and usually just make it. It's very unlikely you'd make it from the normal queues.

It helps to have hold luggage, they're less likely to close the gate on you, and wait, if they think they will have the hassle of unloading your hold luggage. Strangely, despite the extremely short connections, my luggage has always made it (but the last 3 trips, on the return leg, it didn't make the connection!- go figure).

The only way, in my mind, to make that connection is you need to be fast, and rude if necessary, to push forward at every obstacle.

Welcome to Flyertalk mary paterson and Hawkerhunt (great handle!) :)

I second all the comments above: the CityJet flight often runs late and there are multiple hurdles at CDG but there is heavy padding in the schedule which is often enough to make amends.

Your tight connection still better than many of the alternatives so you should stick with it and take a chance on making it. Worst outcome is that you'll have to wait at CDG for the next flight to PSA or FLR. If you must check a bag, pack with the expectation it will not arrive with you; no point in worrying about things that are beyond your control.

Enjoy your trip.
