I just took a redeye in from SFO that was over 3 hours late. Missed my flight to CHS and the next they can get me in is nearly 8 hours later. Any suggestions of some quiet places where I can get some work done?

Ouch, tough luck. If I had eight hours to kill, I'd buy my way into a lounge somewhere. If you're looking to avoid that cost, I've found the area outside of Famous Famiglia in Concourse T to be pretty quiet every time I've passed through. Their pepperoni pizza is also great.

Thanks. I had thought about the lounge, but I don't believe Airtran has one. I would think I'd be able to get into that free. Not so with another airline. I supposed I have plenty of time to go checkout that area by Famous Famiglia.

It may be too late to find out (i.e., they may have already made alternate arrangements), but if there were others on your flight from SFO waiting to connect to CHS, you could share the cost of a rental car and make the drive in just over 5 hours (according to Google Maps).

FWIW, delays out of SFO are the reason why I have been reluctant to take FL from SFO to MKE with a connection in ATL (and ATL to MKE is REALLY too far to drive).

You might be able to purchase a day pass to a Delta Sky Club; the same-day travel requirement is that you have a flight scheduled for that day (it does not need to be a Delta flight). I don't know the layout of ATL or its Sky Club locations (air side vs. land side and whether or not they're in the same terminal as FL), but it might be worth looking into.

You can purchase a trial membership at most lounges. The lounges in E are usually a little less crowded and the former BE (open @ 2PM) has te best selection of snacks (at least used to).

Alternately, there are several REGUS sites around ATL, not sure the cost.

If I have a long layover in ATL, I like to hang out at the gates on Concourse E. E is not very busy during the day, so there's usually much more room in the gate seating areas than there is on C or D.

Concourse E food court options are also decent for an airport (Qdoba, Panda Express, sometimes a live piano player in the bar)

Concourse C

Atlanta Bread Company

Take the passage immediately to the left of the counter.

You will be in a quiet dining area. Lots of aircrew....there are even AC sockets on the wall beneath some of the tables
