Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer - Just paid £30 for a preferred seat. How's seat 71A on the A380

Anybody experienced the window/exit-row seat 71A on the A380 upper deck before? I'm not quite sure if it's worth the (little) extra money but hey, it's an exit-row seat for a 13 hour flight!

Cheers! That looks SPACIOUS. And is 81A any better or worse than 71A? I can switch to it free of charge (as I've already paid!) and it's still available.

SeatGuru recommends 81A/C/H/K but I read there is no window in that row?

Does 71A/K and/or 81A/K have a little storage box by its side?

Many Thanks!

For a flight at the end of November (LHR-SIN-BKK SK317) I have booked seats 81A & C.

71A/C are next to bassinet seats (72 DEGF) and I don't fancy the risk of a screaming baby next to me for 13 hours :).

After a little research I found four reported negatives for seats 81A/C H/K
1) It can get very cold
2) There is no window (but neither is there in 71 A/C H/K)
3) People may stand in front of you whilst they stretch their legs
4) Turbulance feels stronger at the rear of the aircraft

But being 6' 6'' the extra legroom is valuable and I was happy to pay a £120 premium for a return trip with Mrs Midnight.

I was seduced by SIA's June sale and this will be my first flight with Singapore after flying with Thai for 10 years.

That is seatguru BS that they put by default to every exit row seat.

That is seatguru BS........

Thank you Savage25 for your kind contribution.

I prefer emergency exit seats and do not mind the cooler air temperatures that I have previously experienced.

The following advice is given on the Thomas Cook website;
"Seats next to the emergency exit doors and can be cold, appropriate clothing is required."

This will be my first trip on the A380 and if you know that the Emex seats do not suffer from cold air, that's great news.

Thank you again for this information.

Not going too far OT.... but Seatguru does say that about ALL exit row seating... and while I am sure it is true of many it is not true of all...

I was in an exit aisle seat on an NZ 744 earlier this week and there was some system blowing quite warm air from under the seat... I had a bottle of water set there and it soon became undrinkable...

I certainly didn't need the blanket provided!

On my one SQ380 flight (SYD-SIN) the guy in the nearest exit row window seat to me (row81) remained in shirtsleeves the whole flight....

This is only my personal opinion, but I believe that unless you are 6ft2 or taller, ANY SQ Y seat on the A380 (and most other aircraft) offers you plenty of legroom and there is no real need to book the exit row seat - and I don't say that so that people leave these seats vacant for me when I travel :D. I have just come back from SYD on a 77W in 34H, and I felt very comfortable. For the record, I am 5ft10 or 177cm tall.

Thank you everyone for your helpful responses! I think I will be sticking to 71A despite its proximity to the loos.
