Thai Airways Royal Orchid Plus - How to request special assistance?

Hoping someone can help me with this question. Next week my wife is traveling by herself HKT-BKK-HKG in C (I have to go ahead a day earlier).

We are traveling with our 16 month old on a longish trip from NZ to Asia so have a ridiculous amount of luggage! (how life has changed, I remember the days of hand luggage only!)

This includes incredibly bulky items like a baby car seat.

Anyway, point is my wife wont be able to manage the baby and the luggage cart by herself on arrival into Hong Kong, and she is quite stressed about this.

Will Thai be able to provide some kind of special assistance for this situation, I guess someone to help her? If so, how do I go about sorting that out for her.

Failing that, does Hong Kong have porters at the airport?

Any advice very much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi oranjeemakker, she will be assuming that is what you are there for, ;). If you ring Worldwide Flight Services, they will meet Mrs oranjeemakker at the cabin door, transport her and all her cabin baggage through passport control to the baggage collection. They will collect all the luggage and stay with her and the young one, all the way to your car or taxi. It will cost you, phone them now on 852-2261-2727. Everything will be OK, regards bkkrop

I have a similar issue in December when I travel from MEL-BKK with my mum who is 78 years old. I am concerned about her walking from the arrival gate at BKK through immigration & customs to exit the airport. Does TG upon request offer a "golf-buggy" or similar pick up at the arrival gate, or is it best to go with Worldwide Flight Services?

hi ureba,

Read my post under "London to Bangkok" started by LHP. This should answer all your questions.

Hi ureba, TG will be able to handle it in MEL, as it's a smaller airport. Request wheelchair cabin door pick up when you check your mum in. If you have a problem or know her arrival date/time PM me as I am at the airport frequently, regards bkkrop

Thanks BKKROP for your excellent help. To summarise, I should request assistance through TG at MEL and use Worldwide Flight Services at the BKK end. Is this correct?

Is this correct?, sorry ureba, i post in haste without reading the gist of the question sometimes:(. When you check in at Melbourne, go to the service desk which is at the RH end of the checkin counters. Ask for the duty manager. There are 6 of them so I don't wish to post all their names, but they are are all very good. Ask for a wheel chair for your mum here so you can wheel her through to the aircraft door. Then ask her to organise the same/ or a buggy, for you on arrival at BKK. This they will do for you at no charge. The only reason I mentioned Worldwide services is oranjjemakker wanted someone to take luggage etc from the plane door to the car and airlines will happy to organise a buggy/wheelchair/guide but they get stroppy if they have to also have to be a porter and fast tracker . If you are flying C/J this will be no problem at all, if you are on a V/W fare you may have to press the charm button, you will be alright but PM me if there's any problem, regards bkkrop

Sorry ureba that I didn't answer individually. But if you substitute LHR with MEL, CNX with BKK, "hubby" with "mother" and skip the rest that's not on your agenda we are pretty close.

Thanks bkkrop, another helpful post as always! ^

Have done what you suggested and contacted Worldwide flight services. Have chartered a buggy from the gate and arranged porter right to to the car. At around HK$200 all in I dont think thats too bad value either!
