JetBlue TrueBlue - Can I get lunch before picking up my bag at JFK?

In December, I'll be flying BOS-JFK on B6, arriving at 10:28, connecting to the TK flight to IST at 16:45 (separate tickets, and the latter is an award ticket in F so I wanted to be really safe.) I'll be checking a bag, so after arriving at JFK, can I get breakfast/lunch in T5 and then go get my bag? Or will they take it and put it in some super secret location where I need to pledge allegiance to JetBlue for the rest of my life before they release it :)? Seriously, any thoughts are appreciated...thanks!

The baggage people at JFK will probably take your bag to their office.
The good news is the baggage people for JetBlue at JFK are probably the only good part of the otherwise really crappy ground crew at JFK.
You should have no trouble getting your bag back.

Another idea...

pick up your bag, then head over via Air Train to T4 and dine at the various food venues there.

It would work, but it isn't as good as the T5 options, IMO.

I wonder what objections would come up, but given how many people want to experience the terminal after arriving, I wonder if B6 could do something like , when checking a bag to JFK arriving during traditional breakfast, lunch, or dinner hours, tag bags for people who want to dine in the terminal so that they don't have to worry. Their bags would then automatically be picked up by the "vallet"/staff in baggage claim for pick up within 2 hours of arrival.

Perhaps as an incentive, those who tag their bag this way could show their "lunch ticket" and get a small discount at the sit-down venues, since creating such a system would possibly end up generating more revenue.

Just something to consider if the marketing people are reading ;)

By the way, also to those marketing people if they are reading: I haven't flown B6 once since last winter. Some of us had to make other choices where to be loyal when you didn't roll out the new TrueBlue, and I wonder what you might do to persuade us back....if you want us back...

I've done this several times on other carriers (usually at ORD, though). If you don't claim the bag when it goes around, the baggage service office will hold it. All you need to do is stop by the office, show your claim check, and they'll give it back to you. It's actually simpler than watching the carousel go around and around... although in theory, someone could have long ago disappeared with your bag.

Perhaps, but you also don't get indigestion wondering if someone has made off with your bag(s).

I would be too paranoid to leave my bag like that.
