I recently booked a business class flight for SIN-ICN on March 11, 2010. According to koreanair.com it's a 777-300, so I'm expecting the old-style Prestige recliner seats and business class from row 7-10.

Because the flights were booked using DL Skymiles I'm unable to access the seatmaps online. But I was able to check the seat map for the flights on expedia.com and they show business class from row 7-11. However, I am unable to find any info on this kind of aircraft with 5 business class rows on koreanair.com nor on seatguru. Is this a glitch or a new configuration?

Also, what seats would you recommend? Anybody flown the SIN-ICN route recently and can share experiences about inflight entertainment or meals?

Thanks from somebody who usually hangs out in the DL forum.

That's interesting. It seems this is newer version of 773 non-ER. First class has only 1 row with 2-2-2 same arrange; prestige class has 5 rows; economy has 5 less row than current one. And economy is 3-3-3 instead of current 2-5-2. Still this route is sold as FCY instead of P/R/J (which indicates newer config in longhaul). Very interesting.

I flew this route last month.

The seating configuration was the older 773 layout with Prestige Class occupying Rows 7 through 10 (2-3-2 configuration with 48” of Pitch). We sat in Row 9 (A & B), which did not visually seem any different, in terms of space, then the others.

If you’re interested, I have the menu elsewhere, and can post it into this thread later for your reference. The entertainment was older generation with a screen (perhaps no larger than 6”) that “pops out” from the bottom of the console (if I remember correctly). I slept for much of the flight, and probably only had the in-flight map on. Since I slept, I cannot comment too much on the service, but when I was awake, the service was fine.

In Singapore, you will have access to the SATS Premier Club Lounge in Terminal Two one level up from the main departure concourse (across from the MH lounge). The lounge is pretty ordinary with some hot and cold food buffet options. The mens’ restroom has three shower rooms, and I believe my wife mentioned the women’s only has one. They provide a cellophane wrapped towel, and some shampoo and bathing gels from a fixed dispenser. The lounge is shared, and I recall it being fairly crowded around the evening departure time.

If you have any other questions, let me know.

Thanks for the great info.

bobbybrown, maybe KE is introducing a new intra-Asia configuration, but I won't count on that and have not seen any announcement. But even their older recliner seats don't look to bad - better than intra-Europe or many intra-US business class seats.

dsimon, thanks for the info about your recent flight experience and the lounge. If you could post info from the menu, that would be great. I think they serve breakfast before landing, so it seems the lounge would be a great place to grab some dinner before the flight.

I did some more research on the seating and found this press release on koreanair.com announcing refurbishment of their mid-haul fleet including the 777-300: http://www.koreanair.com/local/na/gd/eng/au/pr/20090909_64428.jsp

I might get lucky and experience the Prestige Plus seat next March on the SIN-ICN leg.
