Hmmmm. Just realised that this is the first year since 2001 that I haven't flown with Emirates.

Too expensive to justify a quick weekend in Dubai these days.

last year the bonus miles promo was based on the number of legs flown. This year being mileage based will be far harder to achieve the top tier. Still better than nothing as they say.

odd, i just received this offer by email too but the following was offered to me, and nothing less than the 20,000 threshold:

When I registered, the said said it was the GOLD ELITE end of year promotion, so I guess they are running different ones.

Great news for me, already booked BOM-DXB-SFO-DXB-BOM in F, a DXB-HKG-DXB in J, a DXB-LHR-DXB in J and a DXB-DAR-DXb in Y (upgraded to J already with miles), so I guess thats me earning 54'402 Tier miles as it is - cheers Skywards, there's an extra 60'000 I am getting for doing what I planned to do already! Madness!

i'm guessing the higher you rank, the more difficult it is to obtain these bonus miles.

Tier miles this year only 83000.
So cant understand why so high myself... I did have 2 flights to hong kong booked in first and business for October and December (which I had to cancel last week)
That would have netted me over 50000 tier miles... maybe it was an incentive to book another flight or two!

stanontour, your profile says you are Gold? I'm Gold and got the same email, but my max bonus miles is 60,000, with the starting threshold of 20,000 in common with a couple of other posts here. Guess they have different levels of Gold in this promotion.

Brilliant timing for me though; I've got a BNE-GLA in J over the next couple of months.

Got the promo email (I'm Silver), but I'm rethinking whether it's really worth earning these bonus miles (I have about 30K miles to travel by the end of the year). Given the upcoming changes to the 2010 EK program, it looks I will be far better off switching to another carrier with a more standard frequent flyer program. I quit flying BA when they complicated their program (different miles/tier earning, floating tier qualification dates, etc.). I'm busy enough as it is, I don't need to be worrying myself or my travel agent with checking the type of fare, reviewing my calendar to see whether I'm close to qualifying/missing tier renewal, etc.

Hummmmmmmmm Deep thinking going on........ Mrs Down the Back got the mail too, she is silver, only 70 Tier Miles before her Golf, and she got the mail too, but NO 10'000 mile bonus.. Maybe its a location thing perhaps??

Noticed the code as well-- I was 399

I didn't get the email (am gold) but my brother who is silver did.

When I first recieved the email I was excited. However, after learning of the changes to skywards, I am dumping EK all together.

Barring any last minute unexpected flights I will only have 37,009 more tier miles this year- cant work any way to get it up to 40,000 for the extra 15K bonus.:mad:

I will have a DXB-CMB in J ticket that was going to use in January - woul d give me the required amount (3062) - could just do the mileage run- and buy a cheap Y for getting back. Hmmmmm.....
