New trains to be introduced on the Malpensa Airport Milan line will reduce the travelling time from 40 minutes to under 30 minutes.
The Department of Infrastructure and Mobility has confirmed that in 2010 Alstom will deliver six new trains for Malpensa Express, the dedicated airport rail service from Milan Malpensa Airport to Milan.
Raffaele Cattaneo, a representative of the department visited the Alstom’s Savigliano plant to confirm that the production of the trains is going according to the schedule.
“I wanted to see where we stand and I can confirm now that the first two trains will be transferred for further development and testing to Novate Milanese municipality in December. All six trains will be delivered by May and then gradually put into operation, according to the time schedule that was approved by the national agency for rail safety”, said Cattaneo.
