dumb question of the day: do I have to pre-order Japanese meal on NRT-HKG flight?(business class)

actually, I didn't come up with this question.... I was speaking with AA about my upcoming flight from the US to Japan. The AA flight is on AA metal and the rep ordered the Japanese busines-class meal for me. She went on to say that she sent a message to Japan Airlines to request Japanese meal for my connecting JL flight from NRT to HKG.... I was like.... what???? :confused::confused::confused:

I suddenly remembered the "Friends" episode where someone said they don't have "Chinese food" in China... apparently in China, they just call it "food" :)

back to the topic.... what will happen when Japan Airlines catering sees the request that AA sent? :D

The first time I got asked was when I called in to try to get a particular seat in F, the reservation agent asked me if I would like to reserve Japanese or Western meal. I didn't think too much of it. The second time they asked, I found out from the agent that they "are just trying to accommodate every one as well as they could. sometimes, people prefer to reserve their meal in advance, in case their preference runs out mid-flight."

I just thought it was good service, even though I really don't need any request in advance.
