I spent 3 days at the Berjaya Resort in Redang Malaysia and it was the best. Does anyone know a great priced great valued resort with a nice cleean beach, good food, and clean ocean view room? We paid about $1200 for 3 days with air from Singapore (only an hour flight on a Dash-7 plane)....so If I can find something cheaper or around there...that would be grand, as I plan to use AA miles to get myself to Fiji.

I can't agree with that - I've stayed there a couple of times, and whilst the surrounds are nice the food is rubbish.
I'm keen to try the new Sofitel denaru, having stayed at most other properties there - have heard only good things about it thus far.

Why not look at the Starwood properties?

I just stayed at the Westin Denarau for a week in an oceanfront room (great view of nothing but the ocean from the bed, despite being in a resort). Loved it, exceeded my expectations (which were low -- I knew Denerau is an artificial environment, however it is well done and pleasant, and the Westin is the lowest density as it is the oldest resort). Food varied from OK to quite good (e.g. Flying Fish restaurant from Sydney has a branch there at the Sheraton which is every bit as good as the Sydney one -- world class seafood). Some surprisingly good steak and wines too at Denerau. Sofitel is the newest resort however it didn't appeal to me as higher density than the Westin (which was originally built as the Regent, a 6 star resort that failed, now operating as 5-star which works for its price point and service level). Note that none of the Denerau resorts are "south sea tropical island in paradise" kind of resorts, rather they are like Waikiki in the 70s (before it became crowded). Nice and convenient (with good pools, tennis courts, golf and internet access) as well as decent food and even some ok shopping. Good for what you get.
