Will be flying NRT-LHR soon and I want to upgrade both of us from J to F just for this sector (DONE3 RTW tix). Called JMB center in HKG and they said there is no way since I'm travelling with a friend and he/she must be a family member.
What I originally had in mind is upgrade using JMB mileage for one seat, and upg the other seat using upgrade points from my Sapphire account.
Any ideas or is this strictly verboten under JMB rules?

Get married with your friend and claim he/she as a spouse then file a divorce after the award redemption :p
If your friend doesn't fall into one of the relatives in this graph (http://www.au.jal.com/sr/en/jalmile/award/info_001.html), I am afraid there's not much you can do.

Get married with your friend and claim he/she as a spouse then file a divorce after the award redemption :p
