Lack of Newspapers :td: At 08:45 today the WLG Koruclub had run out of newspapers. In the last couple of months I have noticed that on any afternoon there are no papers in AKL, WLG or CHC KoruClubs. One of the staff suggested to me thay had cut back on numbers they recieve each day. I do not think it is good enough that we have go outside and buy papers due to Koru Club cutting back.
Safe flying. WLGNZ.

Friday Afternoon/Evening in Wellington there was plenty of Dom Post/NZ Heralds - no magazines however :P

However in Auckland a few weeks ago by 7:30am all the papers were gone.

NZ state that if you fly Koru Hour, along with complimentary tea/coffee and muffin/muesli, you recieve a complimentary paper. However I am yet to recieve one on their koru hour service; Do you have to ask to get one? or is it part of their green image or something?

The newspapers are in a stand at the gate. If you don't pick one up as you board then you're out of luck.

I wouldn't have thought that afternoon passengers are the target market for newspapers. They might have been trying to reduce wastage.

It was intersting this morning after leaving the lounge with no papers there were plenty at the gate for free. Maybe the masses on cheap fares are getting a better deal than the regular business travellers in the Koru Club?
I feel bad about being so negative on this issue as there are lots of things I do like about the Koru Clubs such as great, real coffee, and mostly pretty decent food compared to lounges in the rest of the world.

I've also noticed this in Auckland, Free Paper's at the Gate yet none left in the lounge...

Plenty of papers in both WLG (Tuesday) & AKL (Thursday) Koru Lounges last week around midday.

I seem to recall when NZ enhanced the domestic services, Koru Hour, food offerings, to give the final kick to QF, that newspapers were available to all on the breakfast flights. QF had that as part of the shortlived Cityflyer service:(

Maybe AirNZ could work on "Newspapers free in Koru Clubs all morning " with leftovers put into the stands at the gate for free later in the day? Probably a little better than the situation at the moment with free papers for the masses and none for the premuim travellers.
Yesterday afternoon none in AKL Koru Club, but after I asked the very helpful staff they opened a back cupboard and produced a copy of the Herald. ^ Well done^

They are available to all, as long as you remember to pick one up at the gate.

I'm in the koru lounge in Auckland at the moment. Lots of papers and food. However I have never seen the lounge so quiet.

DUD KC last night was pretty poor in terms of food. Only club sandwiches and cheese and crackers. Lounge got quite full as well and the food would disappear fast and not be replaced for quite a while. Not very many beer selections as well (for a full domestic lounge anyway).

Interesting. I was there last Sunday night and the food offering was not different, except two types of cakes. KC Attendent was very attentive and kept going to replenish food.
Low quantities of beers, seems like the restock had not taken place all weekend.

I have not been there on a week night, tend to arrive right at boarding time, so I do not know if food offering has been reduced on the weekends.

A bit off subject but since we are talking about Koru club, I got an offer the other day from KC, 6 months $150, no $350 joining fee.

I know joining fee is waived for GlobalPlus and Kiwi Platinum cardholders, and for GP the fee is reduced to $350pa.

Now that Space+ domestically is available to Silver, the value of Koru is a little diminished for me.

I didn't realise that the fee was reduced for GP. Is that just the Platinum cards?

I though it was just for the Platinum cards too?

No just a Silver member. But I usually redeem my free lounge passes at LAX so maybe they track those?

Sorry, no promo, just addressed to the house and a blurb about flying patterns and my airpoints number being flagged for the discount in I called in.
I don't do any domestics in NZ so I junked it.
