I found a flight on orbitz that met my needs. After discussing it with my family, we decided to book it. After selecting the outbound and return flights we received a message saying it could not be booked. Seems the airlines involved (three of them) were not partners and therefore the ticket could not be ordered. I called orbitz. The first person said the airlines, indeed, did work together and I was sent to reservations. Reservations told me I would be charged $25 for booking by phone. I told them what I thought of that. Went ahead anyway. The rep. then told me that the flight could not be booked because the airlines did not allow it. Four days later, I see that the same flight is still posted on their site!
I found another flight (more expensive) tried to book it. Got a message saying the flight at that price was no longer available. Went to Travelocity. Same type of experience.
I have been using these two sites for some years now. There have been minor occasional problems. But this past week's experience has made me look elsewhere.
