Dear frequent flyers,
I continue to try and figure out the best strategy for someone that lives in Afghanistan, has to fly through Dubai to my house in CPT - and also travel to the US as the other main destination.
I am a Silver member on Delta and tend to use those miles for upgrades to the US. I am a SAA Voyager member and EK Skywards member, but understand I cannot use SAA miles to upgrade on EK metal. I am trying to maximize earning perhaps through credit card (UAE not possible, not a resident) so considering UA Miles Plus card as part of *A which is good for SAA, not sure if I can use it on EK. Website here: http://www.united.com/page/article/0,,2152,00.html talks about earning UA miles on EK, any chance you can use any of these miles to upgrade on the EK/SAA code share flight (I'm guessing no...but worth a shot).
If anyone has any other suggestions for which program would be best, I'd really appreciate it. I just read about the anticipated changes in EK Skywards and have considered Etihad as an alternative, though not that familiar with them. In an attempt to cover the bases I joined Expedia/ThankYou network - in case anyone is familiar with that.
Thanks for any insight.
