Hi!

Has anybody ever heard of this card? Apparently US Bank offers a Planet Hollywood Rewards card.

I'm looking for a 'fun' card to supplment my SPG Amex and US Bank FlexPerks. I really, REALLY love Planet Hollywood (very generous to SPG Plats!), but I don't really gamble the big bucks. My question is, what exactly are the rewards? "reward points" are very vague. I wonder what the gift cards are good for at the hotel? Room stays? Gambling Credits? Show tickets?

Either way, if anybody holds this card, I'd like to hear your experiences.

I've looked at this card a few times, but haven't pulled the trigger.

It appears the rewards points are not tied into the A-list program (which was what I was hoping for), but can be used for other purchases at the hotel. I assume it works at PH gift shops and restaurants, but not the Miracle Mile shops or other concessions within the hotel that are not owned by the hotel (e.g. nightclubs).

Upon review it seemed like a run of the mill rewards card and the sign-up and long-term benefits didn't seem worthy of the credit report hit to sign up for it. On the other hand, for the puposes you are looking for (a fun "alternative" card), I think it's as good an option as many other cards of that type. The photo on the card would be an attention grabber and kind of fun to have in the wallet to use from time to time.

I don't get the concept of a "fun" card. A card is a card. Lately, with self swipe terminals, more and more often I don't even hand the card over anymore. Are you trying to impress a sales clerk or waiter? You should be looking at getting the best deal.

The Planet Hollywood offering looks like a 1% card to me, and even then not that attractive (as the rewards are only good at PH). Unless you spend a ton of money at PH or Hobby Lobby (!) to get the 5%, you'd be better off with the Schwab 2% or Penfed Cash Reward cards. If you travel alot the 4% Travelocity Card (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/other-credit-card-programs/978593-how-good-travelocity-mastercard.html) is a good deal too.

Take the rebate you get from Schwab, Penfed and spend it at PH (or Wynn, or Bellagio, or Harrahs). Or get the Travelocity card and use it for airfare to Vegas.
