When you goto http://airnz.co.nz the booking form has been removed. Hopefully they are improving the booking system.
I do note that from the start of last week you could now type airport codes into the booking form.
Cant get into http://airnewzealand.com.au or http://airnewzealand.com or http://airnewzealand.co.uk

I can access airnz.co.nz fine, and it seems there is a new booking system to an extent. Instead of just selecting the city, you can type in the name, eg. BNE, AKL whatever.
Can get onto GrabASeat, but no info.

Air New Zealand’s entire computer system has crashed, affecting online bookings, call centre systems and airport check in systems. (http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/2952584/Computer-crash-chaos-for-Air-New-Zealand)
Sounds pretty messy...

NZ's computers are still down. My first flight was delayed considerably. My next flight has no ETA.
This was my first time flying NZ on epass with computers down. It did cause a few issues.

How are they doing checkin at AKL with barely any counters ?
Are the boarding passes being done by hand?

Oct 10, 09, 8:02 pm
I don't know. At NSN it was all by hand and painfully slow with terminal jammed full. Kiosks and gate scanners also down, which meant those already with BPs (or epass) had to re-check in. Seat charts being used and shared back and forth between check in agents. I imagine at the bigger airports they'd have agents dedicated for particular flights to streamline. No one can through check bags.
Now at WLG awaiting onward flight.

Sometimes when there are glitches your seating requests it screwed with.
the articles says they opened an extra 10 counters (I am presuming the reference is to Auckland, as the spokesperson did not seem to know what was happening in Wellington).
My query is - where would those extra 10 be? I thought counters had been done away with and replaced by a few desks.

Air New Zealand is blaming IBM for today's computer failure. The airline is also apologising to customers who were inconvenienced by the IT outage, which Air New Zealand says should never have happened.
Spokesman Bruce Parton says Air New Zealand is sorry that customers faced delays of up to two hours while staff resorted to manual processes for check in and boarding. The airline has now cleared the backlog at most airports.
Mr Parton says Air New Zealand was not the only company affected by the IBM outage. He say they are deeply disappointed by the performance of their supplier, who has fallen well short of the expectations they have on behalf of their customers.

Delays were more than 2 hours on several flights, including one of my 2 flights yesterday. And plenty of people misconnected meaning even longer delays.
The passenger backlog was definitely not cleared 3:30pm.
Air New Zealand chief executive Rob Fyfe has lashed out at IBM in an internal email about yesterday’s mainframe crash that crippled services and disrupted thousands of passengers.
"In my 30-year working career, I am struggling to recall a time where I have seen a supplier so slow to react to a catastrophic system failure such as this and so unwilling to accept responsibility and apologise to its client and its client's customers," he says.

For some reason the online bookings are off to me at home, and so is grabaseat, I can still log in to myairnz however. Weirdly enough, it's the same for my computer at work as well, (grabaseat was working from the work computer yesterday at 9am, then when I went to see how the Tokyo deals were going It wouldn't let me on and it hasn't since) yet no one else seems to be affected by this. I can't think of any possible reason this has occurred-I hope they haven't blocked by IP for grabbing too many grabaseat deals or something.

If you restart your broadband router at home you should get a new IP address. Most New Zealanders don't have a static IP, as someback in the day though what a great idea it would be to charge extra for them:p

I'm not sure if this is related or whether it deserves a new thread, but has anyone here experienced payment delays with AirNZ in recent weeks?
I have two seperate bookings, one from a month ago, and one from a week or two ago, and both of them only appeared on my CC statement as 13 Oct, even though the first one was definitely ticketed in Sept.
Not that I'm complaining, this delay has pushed it into the next payment cycle, meaning I don't have to actually pay for them for another month.
