Avis - Avis First - Any LHR Recognition?

I'm renting from LHR next week and I cannot find any information as to whether or not Avis First will be recognized.

T&C's seem to state that members of Avis First must be US based, but it makes no mention of my free upgrade being limited to one of the 50 states. Will LHR even know what I am talking about?

Very doubtful that you'll get anything in LHR, but asking won't hurt! The US Avis programs (First, President's Club, Chairman's Club) are US/Canada on paper, but you might get lucky. In DUB this year, I asked about an upgrade as a CC and they asked for my ID and then gave us a very nice upgrade! So take your card, ask nicely and cross your fingers, but don't get upset if you don't see anything (heck, usually in the US, I didn't see anything when I was First...).

I always get a double upgrade at LHR.
