Other Credit Card Programs - Switched Citi debit from ThankYou to AAdvantage--will I still get ThankYou points?

In order to be able to use a debit card without feeling guilty about losing miles, I switched my Citibank debit card from the default (free) ThankYou Points program to the $65/year Premium (1 mile per dollar) AAdvantage Debit Card.
I think I did it too soon, however. I ended up with 3,245 ThankYou points--not quite enough to redeem for a $25 gift card (pretty much the only thing useful to me that I can get, since most other rewards can't be shipped to Alaska).
So, I have two questions:
1) It seems I earned ThankYou points on both signature debit transactions as well as other miscellaneous banking activity (direct deposit, savings account stuff, etc.). By enrolling my account in the AAdvantage program, will I cease to earn TY points completely, or will I still earn them for the other stuff (just not on debit card purchases)?
2) If I'm basically completely out of TY at this point, what can I do with 3,245 TY points? Or are there alternative ways to earn TY points--I only need 255 more to get a $25 gift card! :D
Should I cancel my enrollment in the AAdvantage program for another month or two, top up my TY balance, and then re-enroll in AAdvantage? ;)
Or should I just forget about TY altogether? :p

I think you will still earn TYP for other types of banking activity, but you could also top off your account by placing an order through the shopping portal, making a qualifying travel booking through Expedia, applying for a credit card, etc.

Why are you willing to pay $65/year fee in order to earn 1 mile/$ spend on a debt card? Its so not FT ;) - there are AA credit cards with 25k or 30k sign-up bonus miles and no fee for the 1st year (and plenty of people repeat the cycle as you can see from other threads).

I've had the AAdvantage card for years now (though I don't churn). I guess annual fees don't bother me. With some upcoming life changes possibly ahead, I want the option of being able to use my debit card without losing out on miles. We'll see if I end up using the debit card more because of this--if not, I may cancel the enrollment.
Thanks, mia!

i am almost positive, that if your other accounts are linked to this acct.(same sign-on etc.),then your bankig pckg. is for aadvantage(i.e. you are a citigold member and have a savings a cd a mortgage make dd and bp..... if it is all linked with this chkng acct you will ot earn typ-which could total 1200 monthly...of course what u can do is have 2 chkng accts, one aadvantage by itself, and the other pckgd with your tyn-and u will earn your typ(btw this is what i have)
hope this helps

I think it helped...deciphering TreoSpeak wasn't particularly easy! ;)
It's what I feared. It'd be nice if the extra TY points I would have earned for various banking activities would instead become AAdvantage miles, but it seems that the AAdvantage package only offers miles for actual signature debit card activity, where as TY did that and some more (the fact I ended up with over 3,000 TY points and never used the signature feature of the card is evidecne of that). That seems like a step down...though the fact that AAdvantage miles can actually be used for worthwhile things (like traveling ;) makes up for it.
Maybe I'm just out of luck, and the 3,245 TY points I have will just go to waste. Anyone on CC have use for them? ;)

Book a flight or hotel with expedia, finish off the TYP and be done with them. You will get dinged with the $8 booking fee, but will get a $24 credit.
