Greetings.

I am working on a vacation for the family to Thailand for summer 2010 and I'd be interested in what to expect for reasonable prices on airfare LAX-BKK.

What are the least expensive airlines & routings to get to Thailand from Los Angeles? When do fare sales usually occur (i.e. cheap fares LAX-Europe are starting to show up now for winter travels and then again in the early spring for summer travel).

Can anyone recommend websites/travel agents who can usually provide the most economically priced airfare to Thailand? I know that here in Los Angeles we have a huge Thai population so there must be decent fares.

There will be 5 of us so price differences of even just a couple hundred dollars really add up quickly!

Thanks,

Onedog

Go to Chinatown in LA or any neighbourhood with a large asian community that has travel agencies. They will have special packages with airfares or just airfares...through consolidators.

Fares exist now through to next summer already.

Thai Town on Hollywood/Sunset Blvds just east of the 101 (intermingled with Little Armenia) has many Thai shops and restaurants. Many of the shops carry free Thai/English newspapers at their doors that advertise bargain airfares by such consolidators.

China Airlines would be the cheapest IMHO.

If anyone knows of or finds a specific travel agent, particularly one that does business online, posting contact info here would be much appreciated.

We see the go-to-Asian-communities-and-find-a-TA response all the time. Few of those are followed up by contact details for particular TA's.

I've been using Norcross Travel (888-888-7157) for the last 3 years. They don't have a web presence and I haven't tested them with any complicated itineraries, but the fares that they've come up with have been quite decent.

Try www.thaifly.com and don't be afraid to phone them. As for booking, if you find a fare you can live with, grab it esp for 5 people. However, I think it may still be a little too far in advance to get the "best" fares...though I'd certainly have things sewed up by late January/early February if your dates aren't really flexible.

The only nonstop LAX-BKK is on Thai Airways. Nice plane and you avoid transit time, but rarely the cheaper option. Always worth a look though, and their economy seat is a little better than most. Other options will have you routing through another Asian hub, usually Tokyo Narita, Seoul Incheon, Taipei, or Hong Kong, depending on carrier.

its always a roll of the dice booking that far ahead,

there are often real good deals that are only good for a day or 2,

if you are not worried about FF miles then you can get flights down in the low $600 range ,

Also look at the airlines websites and sign up for email deals from them ,

I am pretty well stuck with UAL for the double miles , but often see other airlines

check your dates here to get an idea
