Other Credit Card Programs - Don't throw this Citi offer away!!!

A gray-blue postcard from Citi touting "See inside for an exclusive opportunity to earn American Airlines AAdvantage bonus miles", which really looks just like yet another shill to sign up for a card. But, it's not!

It's a promo for 20% extra on total spending from "now" (presumably date-of-registration) through Dec 31, 2009. There's an "invitation number" inside (in white oval) needed to complete phone registration. Deadline to enroll - Nov 30, 2009.

Mine both arrived today. 20% bonus for me, double miles at department stores and apparel stores for my wife.

I've gotten 4 different cards for 4 different accounts (yikes!) 3 were 20% off, 1 was double miles on dept stores.

Rec'd today on Hubby's PPE card - said it is already automatically enrolled - 500 bonus points each month from Oct to Dec, if 5 transactions of $10 and up are made.

Nothing on mine. I guess because that one is almost maxed out on the coins, Citi's system does not think there is a need to encourage spending. :)

On the AA card statement, 20K AA miles offer to open a regular checking account.

Citi appears to have a LOT of these offers going on.

For PremierPass, they have a promotion going on where for every year you've had the card, you get a 10% bonus on purchase points (up to 50% bonus, or 1.5 thank you points per $ spent).

One funny thing I have noticed -- there appears to be an error with their mail-merge for some of the invites. For those with invite codes, the code in the "body" of the letter may be a series of 9's, but the real code is on the top left (over your name and address).

Representatives are also able to look up these promotions, so if you didn't get the letter (or e-mail), but want it, give them a call to see if you are eligible.

The experiences in our household are: The less used card or even dormant cards, get lots of offers - whether they are bonus pts offers based on spending or 0% transfer (all carries 3% fee though). The main working card receives zilch. Typical Citi behavior.

We have a few cards in the family that don't get used much and are virtually dormant. Lets see if something comes our way over next few weeks.
