Hello,

I was slightly surprised today when I checked my forthcoming Premium Economy booking (VS29/30, LGW>BGI>LGW, next month) as my seat choices had changed drastically. When I booked the flights many months ago, the seating appeared to relate to a B747-400 version 1 or 2 (with Premium Economy seats on the upper deck).

However, the aircraft appears to have changed to a B747-400 version 3 (with Upper Class on the upper deck and comprising the forward two cabins of the lower deck. Perhaps incorrectly, I was under the impression that these aircraft only flew on routes from LHR.

Do the B747-400 version 3 routinely aircraft fly on the BGI route from LGW and, if so, do these aircraft have the newer (purple leather) Premium Economy seats?

Many Thanks in advance for any help.

Regards,

Work-Shy

Hi,

This is probably an aircraft swap ( maybe one of the LGW aircraft is going in for maintenance).

The PE seats should be purple.

TBS,

Many thanks for your swift reply. While slightly disappointed at being bumped out of the upper deck, I am hoping the newer Premium Economy cabin (and, presumably, IFE) will be better than the usual LGW Premium Economy offering.

The benefit of the much much better interactive IFE with in-seat laptop power aswell as the leather PE seats far outweigh the loss of the UD seats IMO

And ... when this airplane swap happens it's more likely that upgrades occur too ...
