Do any of you know anywhere on the strip where I could find $5 craps tables? Even if I'd have to go in the morning? I'm going to Vegas with someone who is new to the game, so we'd like to keep the lessons as painless as possible. :)

Casino Royale. Sometimes even less than $5.

Bill's Gamblin Hall had $5 craps at night. I do not like lesser minimums ie $3 or $2 as they do not suit my play but I do not have the bank for limits higher than $10. If I have had a good game and am well ahead I will put a toe into a $25 game but that's it.

Cheap limits, but pooey place and clientele. I was almost hit on the head because I wanted to play the 'don't' side and my fellow table patrons objected to my negativity (and profitability at their expense)

They're just proud of their single dollar bets :D

Nearly all of the casinos on the south end of the strip (NYNY, Excalibur, Luxor, MGM) offer $5 limits daily on morning shifts on craps. Sometimes, the limits don't go up until the swing shift starts at 2 or 3 PM but after 12 PM, the suits start looking to up limits. If you want free lessons, NYNY offers them around mid day (11 or 1 but I can't remember). If you want sub $5 limits on the strip, try Monte Carlo on weekday mornings. I saw a $3 limit the last Monday morning I was there.

I like the morning shift anyways as the casino is a bit more laid back and the pace of play is a bit slower. Not as many drunk ya-ya's who don't know what they are doing and don't want to listen. Also, if you need help on odds, morning shifters are usually more willing to help you rather than just bark or ignore your $5 bet on a 6:5 payoff.

Might also try some of the casinos on the north side of the strip like Circus Circus, Riviera, the Sahara and the Startosphere.

While not on the strip, would recommend going downtown to the Fremont area. It's a different world down there in that it's more old school Vegas and affordable.

Well, me and craps are supposed to be through, but here's another vote for Casino Royale. If you go to Vegas frequently, then I highly recommend that you sign up for their card. I get $20 in free machine play each month that I visit Vegas, plus 2 or 3 free rooms each month. My friend gets more. Plus Casino Royale has a great advantage in that you can stumble in off the street and two seconds later actually be playing craps. Most central strip casinos, it's kind of a hike to get to the action. I don't play "don't" so I won't speak to people hassling you for playing "don't," I won't hassle you if I'm there, it's your money. But if *I'm* rollin, watch out, tee hee. If I'm not "feeling it," I'll try to warn you, but I'm not always right. So no guarantees. But I don't mind if "don'ts" bet against me, as I myself would sometimes bet against me. It's craps, you have to follow your hunches.

I'm getting away from gambling and going to Bolivia to do some birding and won't be around for awhile. But if you guys are coming out in December, PM me, maybe we can do a meet-up.

Even some of the casinos in the central Strip area have $5 craps tables in the first part of the day. In July 2007, I won a decent amount on a $5 table at Harrah's one Tuesday afternoon. The table was so hot that a pit boss instructed the dealers to raise the limit to $10 after the current shooter's roll ended. Not surprisingly, that table cooled off quickly.:(

We were at the Monte Carlo on a Saturday night a few weeks ago and were shocked to see a $5 craps table. About 10PM it finally switched to a $10 table.

Paris has $5.00 tables during the week, during prime time in the evening. I wasn't looking at the craps tables specifically, but they had plenty of $5.00 blackjack and Let It Ride, roulette, etc. They probably had at least one $5.00 craps table going, I imagine...
Harrah's and Rio also have $5.00 tables during the week, and even sometimes on Friday night, but not past 10:00pm or so, I've noticed.

I was playing $5 craps at Bill's a couple of weekends ago. Everytime I went, even during prime time, it was $5. The staff was very friendly and patient. This drunk girl was even playing at the table and going EXTREMELY SLOW with the dice; taking forever to roll. The staff never got rude about that.

I find that $5 craps are rare at Harrahs and The Rio. I find that $5 craps tables are much more common at (in this order): Imperial Palace, Ballys, Flamingo, Paris.

You can get $3 craps at Slots of Fun (by Circus Circus). Table is typically packed in the evenings, but if you go mid afternoon its not so bad.

Last time we were in Vegas a few months ago over a weekend $5 craps was available at Paris during the weekend days, and pretty much all the time as I recall at Bally's.

Woohoo, Vegas was actually my last trip--I was there the day you created this post! If you haven't gone already, here's my 2 $1 chips:

I always play my $5 craps at the Excalibur. It's fun and still "Strip" if that's what you're going for. They're usually good about keeping my cocktails coming, so I like that a lot too. :D When people are learning, dealers will tend to help you out with bets without suggesting stupid ones, at least in my experience. As others have pointed out, Casino Royale is good too (better odds, obviously), but it's a lot further down the Strip (though still walkable). Also, they tend to have an "older" crowd, and sometimes I'd rather chat up folks my own age. Guess it depends on what side of the Strip you're planning on being on.

Good luck! Craps is a ton of fun.

I've rolled at Mirage in the early afternoon and the minimums were $5, on a Thursday specifically. Even with the low limits, I was the only one rolling.

Just spent the weekend at Excalibur and they had $5 craps every time I looked- weekdays, weekends, regardless of the time. Needless to say I spent a lot of time there. ;)

The M casino would love to have your $5 action, even on a Friday or Saturday night, and while Casino Royale is the best craps deal on the center strip, and the M is located a dozen miles to the south, the M has class.

The Orleans has $5 craps in the evening (on weeknights, at least)

I won't comment on whether or not the M has class, but it sure as heck and little green frogs has a terrific Lemon Drop Martini served to gamblers. You would need a room there though...don't attempt driving anywhere after two of those Lemon Drop Martinis.
