I have a Z class reservation for more the 4 month to LAX
My travel agent did a mistake and canceld part of the reservation.
She tried to fix it after 15 min. but Elal said no and offered only D class.
I called and asked to give us the Z back but I was refused.
I told the nice lady that now can sell the new D to someone else
and get 300-400$ more but they will lose me...
She called back after 15 min and told me I got my Z back.

You need to understand that this is an automated system,
There are waiting lists, Once you cancel your Z, someone else get it automatic.
(Same if you do double booking by two agents, only your first reservation count,
the second one will fail, in rare conditions both will fail).
So i would say that someone did for you an extra here, I believe the flight is
not overbooked, this is how you got it back.
(If Z is sold out but D/C/I available for many seats, they will probably approve
your Z)

Why dont you write a letter to EL-AL, It will help R****L a lot...
I write a letter every time I get a good service.
(also when I get bad service :-) )

my situation was:
i had confirmed booking for Z.
wanted to add my wife, but Z was available only on the return trip.
was on waiting list - and nothing.
was in the process of renewing my gold membership.
Called "Shimur Lekohot" and asked for the Z for my wife. told them that i will cancel both trips and go with another cheaper airline (like BA).
a few hours later i was given the Z class.
this is not about good service, both you and me made a threat and that worked. i am aware that it's an automated system, and a week later even W was available. but this is how it works.
