I knew you would have started a thread already on this! :D

Certainly not good for 9W, but definitely a positive for BD.

Wonder who Naresh Goyal can convince to take-over now? There might be a few willing movers from AI to 9W, ready to Konnect to what's left of 9W...

Funnily, my inside man @ 9w spoke of this (WPS moving to a European airline) as imminent, many months back, and it never did happen then. Any ideas on who's going to take charge at Jet?

A former CEO in the 90s, now head of 9W north america ops - Nikos Kardassis - is in the seat as a temp, for at least 6 months.

What's the word on Nikos? He seems to have strong credentials. And was former CEO.

I would not go that far, what really helped was that the Government of India finally allowed private carriers to go international which coincidently happended when Mr. Prock-scheur was in charge. If the GoI allowed international flights 10 years ago, the same would have happened, Jet would have come in the international markets with high standards.

Lots of other international airlines constantly change CEO's after 5-7 years in charge, BA (last 15 years) has had Bob Ayling, Rod Eddington and now Willie Walsh. Etihad have gone through similar changes since they started, i believe James Hogan is in charge, before that he was at Gulf Air who now have Samir Majali (ex- RJ) whose predecessor Bjorn Naf has moved one.

I think its healthy that fresh impetus is brought into the airline rather than let it stagnate after a X amount of time.

With the flaghip flights to LHR... Or what state IT is in? The on-again / off-again international route strategy, or the hub BLR yes BLR no, etc etc.

I don't think Prock-Schauer's contribution should be underestimated. The role he played in negotiating codeshares as well as his contacts and resources used in getting certain Middle Eastern airports and authorities receptive to 9W shouldn't be brushed aside.

No, it should not be underestimated but i am just stating that what he acheived at Jet could be viewed as natural expansion of a fine domestic carrier which someone else could also have done. They opened a few long haul routes and expanded on regional flights. This was helped by bilaterals being review with the respective goverments.

Jet are good and very service oriented but they are not yet a monster like the Middle East carriers or someone like TAM who have taken over as Brazil's no 1 carrier etc etc. He has been good for the airline but not irreplaceable.

He's probably looking forward to the challenge working at BMI, he's an Austrian (german speaking) and now BMI are owned by germans, it probably suited him as well.

You never know, his replacement in five years time could be taking Jet even further then what WPS has! Natural expansion and progression!

LHR on Air Sahara metal. (Used to come into T4 I think. Same slots that IT took over to start their LHR operations IIRC).

I remember the Sahara 767 (LHR-DEL IIRC) in a four class config (F, J, Y+, Y) for about a few weeks. Diana Hayden launched the route from T1 with big fanfare and then a few weeks later, Jet bought Sahara and the 767 was dropped.

Never heard of this - although I was flying Air Sahara sporadically by then, as I had switched almost completely to Jet by that time.

Earlier, S2 used to have the better business cabin and food offerings from a cart, which Jet then copied...

Y on S2 was pretty filthy, but the front cabin was very nice!

I don't understand why 9W wants to keep a separate website for jetLite, just a waste of money on another website.

It started in T1 and then a few weeks later shifted to T4 at the same time Asiana switched from T4 to T1.

Even at T4, Sahara only lasted a few weeks till they got sold to Jet.

technically its a different airline, they have got issues of some sort trying to get it all onto one Air Operators Certificate or something.

No, I wouldn't call it that - I really never knew that S2 ever flew ex-DEL - anyway, I don't think I would have cared much, since I was flying with SK (yes, that's who I was crediting to, unfortunately! :( ) as I was probably with Jet's FF program at the time, and/or crediting to NWA...
