South - Any need for a car in Atlanta

Will be there for a wedding in piedmont park. Will be staying in midtown somewhere. Will probably just be drinking in midtown at night. Might do some sightseeing in the day but I figured MARTA would be fine for that. I also realized that MARTA is pretty easy from airport to midtown. So it seems like a car is pretty much unnecessary and maybe also a parking issue. So I figure no need for a car but thought I would double check.

For what you describe, I'd say you're right, although in general parking is not a problem in the city.

Marta is fine. Cabs are also relatively accessible at most hotels so I've cabbed it before when I didn't want to drive.

Atlanta is very much a car city, and MARTA is rather infrequent as public transit goes (every 10 min) but you could get by without one.
