Star Alliance - SQ or TG in Business Class
Yes, another 'which airline is better' in C class
Option 1: SFO-LAX-BKK-DEL, with SFO-LAX on UA, longer legs on TG
Option 2: SFO (ICN) SIN (17 hour layover) DEL, all legs on SQ
Return for each option is the same minus the layover with SQ
Besides the layover, the only other consideration is that I'd be crediting these C-class flights to BMI where TG is 2x, while SQ is 1.5x for RDMs and EQMs.
Is SQ that much better that I should put up with less miles and a layover? I've read that the TG C class seat isn't awesome.
Thoughts/advice?
My view is to take SQ -- on SQ you will have the new business class seats on all sectors (assuming your SIN-DEL-SIN flight is the evening departure each way), whereas on TG you get angled lie-flat on the long sectors and (depending on which day you fly) you may get regional business class on the BKK-DEL-BKK leg.
On such a long flight, comfort is more important to me rather than miles. And there is lots to do at the Singapore airport on a 17 hr layover -- e.g. there is a free tour of Singapore if you book at the tourist information desk when you arrive.
The experience doesn't compare. SQ is far superior.
Miles are miles.

Another vote for SQ.
Hi Hsaxa, SQ is just so much better, but I would be tempted being Hyatt Gold to spend a night in Bangkok, now that FFNs are around and BKK is reduced drastically and as TG is on the longer leg, what is it a 345 or 772, gee the seats aren't too shabby on those either, to be honest 2x points would sway my judgement, I know what I am like, I like to keep a healthy BMI, and having flown the 772/773, I would be happy. I always make my travels so complicated, if it's not the hotel, it's the airline, then is it direct, can I upgrade, sometimes I am mentally exhausted before i leave regards bkkrop

Another vote for SQ as long as you are on flights with the new business class. These seats are great for sleeping - as good as F on many airlines. I would take SQ as long as I can stay in a hotel in Singapore and are not time constrained.
The old C SQ business seat is comparable to TG.
TG is not a bad airline, but SQ is superior.
Another vote for SQ in new C
