Air New Zealand Air Points - More banks to let you earn Airpoints Dollars directly

This is an excerpt from my Amail received a few minutes ago.
"More banks to let you earn Airpoints Dollars directly
Theres something exciting happening with Airpoints right at the moment. More banks are about to offer Credit Cards that allow you to earn Airpoints Dollars directly on your spend.
That means every time you do the shopping, stop for petrol or even pay your electricity, you could also be earning a few Airpoints Dollars.
Kiwibank will launch a credit card that lets you earn Airpoints Dollars directly in early November, with other new partners soon to follow. GlobalPlus will stay as a credit card partner with more benefits.
All you need to do is get yourself a credit card that earns Airpoints Dollars directly. After that maybe just start dreaming about where you would like to go next.
Keep an eye out for more news very soon."
It goes on to talk about Westpac hotpoints etc no longer able to be converted.
Does anyone know any more about this?

Only some people get Amail (IIRC it was originally meant for non-status airpoints members with NZ address).
Which makes it silly to release some "news" by Amail without providing another means to update those who do not get it.

ummm...this is crazy, i tho air nz is keeping bnz globalplus as their only one card partner, now kiwi bank join in? ...?? :td:
kiwi bank dont even offer visa card to start with, and no platinum either, how does this going to attract ''high spending people''?
i think they chose the WRONG bank!!
did asb and westpac cardholders no convert their rewards points to air nz points high enough?? i dont get it.

I am not quite no-status (Silver and Koru) but I get Amail. It was customised to recognise that I have a GlobalPlus Platinum Visa.

To be honest i would not switch to Kiwibank because of this, if it was with another bank then most probably i would (eg Westpac)

At least you get sent stuff.
Other than the odd email for a sale (which usually arrives days after the sale started) I don't get comms from NZ :(

It certainly seems that other banks are going to be involved, not just Kiwibank. Unfortunately, I doubt that one of them will be Westpac and they have launched an alternative to airpoints on their hotpoints options. I hope I'm wrong as it would be a hassle to change credit cards, but I do value the ability to earn airpoints dollars.
As for Amail, not sure why we get them. I seem to remember we were once asked if we'd like to get our statement updates by email, but we still get the paper ones. We've both been Koru members for a while now and are currently *Silver. The details about specials usually arrive long after I've found them online!

Just received my customized Amail newsletter at almost midnight tonight. It didn't mention Kiwibank (probably because I am a Globalplus card holder?) but it lists the following exit dates including a BNZ product. So NZ is adopting the same direct earn concept seen at QF? If Kiwibank was not the only other, who else could it be? ANZ, National Bank?
• ASB True Rewards – 29 October 2009
• Westpac Hotpoints – 7 November 2009
• BNZ Platinum Rewards – 12 November 2009

My Amail also did not have the information about new direct earn credit cards. Probably because I am already a Global Plus cardholder I think.
Cleaning out my inbox and got to Amail, so I thought I'd add to the datapoints.
- NZ Address in my Airpoints account. Usual departure city is set to Auckland.
- Gold member (unfortunate schmelting accident).
- Email received at 6:06am (NZT) on 9th Oct.
- Account info was pulled 28/09, and the email was tailored around being Gold Elite (I dropped to NZ*G on 30th Oct!).
- Advised me about more banks joining the direct earn scheme - I used to have a Global Plus card but cancelled it in 2007. Speaking of which, I better transfer my ASB True Rewards before I run out of time.
- Offered me 3 days of Auckland airport parking.
