I flew to Bari, Italy from Canada to go on a 7 day Cruise. I made it but my luggage did not. Despite repeated requests by my cruise ship there was not a word about my luggage yet it magically appeared in the lost and found when I returned to Bari. I could not get any information about where my luggage was despite checking lost luggage tracker numerous times or asking the lost and found personnel when I arrived back in Bari. I believe it was on their shelves the entire time and they could not be bothered to forward it to my next port which they said they would do. Alitalia has not answered my complaint form I faxed to them despite their online statement they would reply in 30 days - it has been almost 2 months. I had insurance for lost luggage but what is the point when you are stuck on a cruise ship and can't buy anything except for toiletries and one shirt and cap. I received less than $200 Canadian because I couldn't buy proper clothes to replace my lost luggage. In ports when you go on excursions you are lucky to get 45 minutes a day to shop and those were at tourist locations not major stores where you could buy underwear, formal attire, pants or bathing suits. Because of this I could not use the pool, go to the two formal dinners or enjoy myself because I only had one change of clothes in my carry-on. It was like giving a kid a toy then telling him he could only look at it not touch it. What legal options do I have? I am considering suing them.
