Details here (http://corporate.klm.com/nl/newsroom/pers/archief-2009/klm-delftsblauw-huisje-nr.-90-is-amstelveens-koopmanshuis) in Dutch.

Picture here (http://www.luchtvaartnieuws.nl/news/?id=32315#). II had expected something special on their 90th anniversary, but it looks rather plain. Maybe it is huge? Otherwise we shall just have wait another decade.

KL has also published a book "House No. 90" (sounds like it might be in English), but the press release provides no information on how it will be distributed or sold.

Wonder how long it will be able to get our hands on that one.
My father has flown 10 WBC flights in the last year, and still we have not got 89....

In my experience, they flood the market shortly after launch, then the new house completely disappears for a long time.

I've been on flights where they had nothing but the latest house, much to the chagrin of other pax, who wanted different numbers and complained loudly.

Maybe it is huge?As the proud owner of two such houses, I can now answer my own question: it is not. On the contrary, it is tiny. As all the houses added in recent years, it is no longer to the same approximate scale as the earlier ones.

Another way to save money, I guess.

Tiny or huge, I still want it.
They'd better have it when I fly later this month! :D

They'd better have it when I fly later this month!Keep your fingers crossed! Last year I flew out of AMS the day after KL's birthday, and they had a tray full. Flying back less than two weeks later, they had none.

My flight was on 7. Oct. Lots lots lots of 90 houses.

Frankly speaking, not very impressive.

AMS-ORD on 8th October had an entire trayful in the upper deck, but nothing else - which was slightly unfortunate, because Mrs NWIFlyer and I didn't really need two between us. Thankfully, the FA disappeared somewhere and found a box containing a handful of older numbers.

My open jaw return out of YYZ on Tuesday might be more fun when they try and find two non-90's.

They had none on my KL571 flights on the 7th to JRO. Which was a bit of fun as a lot of passengers where congratulating the crew and asking about the new house....

Do they ever let pax have more than one huisje on a given flight? Obviously if there is only one per pax, I understand...but just wondering if one asks nicely, if they will give a second one.

Usually not but there are exceptions of course.
(and I am not talking about knowing the crew, let's not go there again).

Yes, and you don't even have to ask for it. On one of my last flights the passenger in front of me declined so the FA asked me if I wanted to have another one.

I once found myself sitting behind what the FA later told me were the daughters of the former KL CEO. They were apparently only one house short, which was not on the tray. It so happened that I had obtained that very house on my outward flight, and now had it in my bag. I offered it to the FA, and was rewarded with a barf bag embarrassingly full of houses.

I bet the other pax took me for a non-rev!

Not that far from the truth.
Aren't you an "ex-non rev"?

Cool story! Ive only done one longhaul with KL (DXB-AMS) so am not as familiar...does the tray feature all of the same houses or one of each in the collection? If the latter, that certainly makes a case for people to grab a seat near the front for avid collectors!

does the tray feature all of the same houses or one of each in the collection? It usually features a selection within a certain range, say ##20-40 or 50-70. Just after KL's birthday each year, they sometimes load only the newest house and nothing else.

Not all houses on board are placed on the tray, and on the 747 there are two WBC cabins which may offer different series. On flights from AMS, they will also have extra houses for the return flight. If you cannot find what you want on the tray, just ask. Most FAs are willing to check what other houses they have on board.

If your collection is almost complete, and you are therefore specifically looking for the last few houses, asking an FA nicely during the flight for a preview of the available houses, so that you can pick and choose before everybody else. Once again, most FAs will happily oblige.

Finally, if you are just starting your collection, always begin with the houses that stand out on the tray, either because they are bigger than the rest (e.g. #55), or because they don't resemble the traditional gabled canal houses. When the FA comes round with the tray, pax who are not collectors or haven't even the faintest idea what it is all about, will invariably select the biggest house they see (maybe they think it contains more Bols jenever :D ) or else an oddly shaped one. Such houses are therefore generally a bit harder to get, so never pass up an opportunity to grab one.
