Hi,

Anyone an idea what the way is to get an award ticket from europe (preferably AMS but CDG would definitely be possible too) to australia or new zealand.
The tool says no flights available....

FM.

Call them, and they'll take the booking over the phone.
That's the only way I can get award tickets out of Australia as well.

I'm not sure, but it looks like there's no MH award inventory being made available on the web tool, even though it will appear in the system for the FB reservations staff.

I agree with Erik, this is usually OK over the phone, but you should also be prepared to be flexible with the dates.

I also know from past experience that they wont allow 1 way bookings. Perhaps you have a nicer phone voice than me though... ;)

What decent FB options are there to get 'down under'? (Particularly Business?)

Can anybody recommend Aircalin as an option to get to Aus or NZ ? What I was thinking was to try and get an award through to, say, Tokyo, to connect with AC for the onward portion ? Makes sense ?

You might want to look at my review of KE for BHX-MEL in C (post 33):

Thanks for that, so....do I call the helpdesk, or is best to fax a number of options that I would be happy with..?.(seems a little easier than trying to explain to a non native english speaking person ?) Fortunately, my wife and self can be very flexible when it comes to dates etc, but, we would like Business as a minimum.

If you call Flying Blue and use the option to speak english, I don't think the Dutch helpdesk will have any trouble understanding you (except maybe if you happen to have a strong Scottish accent ...)

Otherwise, you can call the Canadian number.

MH on award or use KE for level miles also.

When I've been dealing with the FB reservations team, they have been quite good at examining alternative routings, if KL/MH had no availability.

China Southern is also a decent option in Business

Thanks..seems like a fair number of options..remains to be seen re availability though.
One thing, I just wonder if FB will keep to the 200k Classic or 400k Flex round trip Business, or whether mileage 'obstacles' will be put in the way ??
