Dear all

I am current a ROP gold member and have flown the first leg with my status. I plan to do the return leg in December. Unfortunately, my status will expire in October 2009.

I want to fly in December and clock the necessary miles to retain my Gold status. In doing so, my "new" ROP gold status will be valid until December 2011.

I am just curious, during this "bridging period" where I do not have my Gold status, would Thai still allow me to check in an additional 20kg. The reason being that when I started the sector, I was gold member. I plan to check in without my gold card saying that I have forgotten it at home.

So do you think the system will be smart enough to see this?

I remember when I changed from "silver" to "gold" and than checked in for my first flight as "goldie" I found on the boarding pass in the lower right corner printed "TG*S". (TG*S means ROP silver status, TG*G means ROP gold status)

Then it came into my mind I booked and bought the tkt while I still was "silver". So the system was NOT updated and used the status while BOOKING.

This happened some years ago and I don't know if the system is smarter now.

At the time of taking the December flight, you'll be ROP*S and should receive the ROP*S benefits.

Your status at time of booking isn't important. If you book at a ROP*S and before flying your status changes to ROP*G, you should receive ROP*G benefits (and this is what should appear on your BP). Please note, however, that it can sometimes take a few days for miles to post (or weeks in the case of some partner airlines) and, even once you've accumulated the necessary Q-miles, the status change from ROP*S to ROP*G can sometimes take a few days.
