Now that the in-flight laptop power cables have become chargable, is there a cheaper alternative to buying one from Virgin on-board?

If it comes to it, can I buy one by credit card on the plane?

Also, are power connections provided in Premium from Heathrow?

LHR-SFO on an 747, MCO-LHR on an A340, had laptop power in the PE seats as at my flight in Sept 09.

I have a Dell, was using a Kensington air/auto adaptor bought with that Dell, and the laptop didn't complain (as it does if I use a Dell power supply rated at below 90W).

On LHR-SFO it didn't work initially - I mentioned this to the flight attendant and he switched the power on .... worth considering if it doesn't work at first!.

Cheers,

I believe it is around £60 and has to be pre-booked / pre-paid before the flight.
