Hi all
I am planning an ex-AKL DONE4 (nested inside a syd-akl-syd whY flight that I also need to take) but am wondering what pricing will aply.
Ordinarily I would have to book through an Australian Corporate TA so I am not sure what pricing applied. My understanding was that the pricing was the higher of country of origin and point of ticketing but am unable to confirm that.
I would obviously be hoping to pay the ex-NZ fare (around $3K cheaper than ex-Oz) and am happy to book online (subject to manager approval to not use the corporate TA) but am not sure what price I would be chared using teh OW website.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards
Simon

If you buy online using the oneworld xonex tool (http://www.oneworld.com/?infotab=booking)there should be no issues getting country of origin pricing if you begin your journey in NZ otherwise you would need to have the ticket issued by a TA or airline in NZ (or in Canada which has a special rule).

Simongr, let me know how you go trying to select an AA codeshare for the AKL-SYD first segment. I had troubles with the online tool doing this and hence why I can't use it to ticket with AA from NZ :(

There are two ways to get lower "taxes" using the OW online tool from NZ. One is AA codeshare on AKL-LAX. The other is book LA on AKL-SYD.

I have actually reverted back to QFF so will be booking CX AKL-HKG as my first segment. The proposed routing is:
syd-akl-syd - separate ticket in whY
akl-hkg-lhr-lca-lhr-jfk,lga-atl-dfw-hkg-syd-mel-syd-akl

For AKL-HKG you have a choice between CX and BA codeshare.

Since you're not looking to optimise your routing via your current itinerary but looking to take advantage of local travel (SYD-MEL - presumably for personal reasons and at a different time), you might also look at adding in a SYD-PER-SYD or similar. You've got 3 more sectors up your sleeve.

You cannot do SYD-PER-SYD as this violates the "only 1 trans-continental Australian flight" rule, unless there is an onward flight to JNB.

Good point. Then on one the legs a stop in ADL is in order!

I'm not aware of any direct flights DFW - HKG. You've got lots of available segments, but remember to not go planning on PER plus ADL without first adding the stop between DFW and HKG....

SYD-MEL-SYD and SYD-PER-ADL-SYD is one too many sectors in SW Pacific.

For AKL-HKG you have a choice between CX and BA codeshare.
An AA'er will always pick a CX coded over a BA coded flight. BA, JL & MA coded flights are to be avoided if one wants to earn elite bonuses in the AA programme.

Not in the case of a LONEx - CX gives zero RDMs while BA gives a measly 25%

The current ex OZ price is A$10,080 and ex NZ is N$11,250 (A$9300). Yes, cheaper but certainly not $3k.

The difference was around $3K a few months ago, the change in the AUS/NZD and the 10% discount affects this.
FWIW, LONE4 ex NZ is NZD3420 (~AUD2840) against ex Oz at AUD3330.

Fairly certain AA cut LGA-ATL a few months ago. Sub MIA or ORD if trying to maximize miles, or else go direct LGA-DFW.

Thanks all.
I wonder if the 10% discount is confusing things for me. This will be a June 2010 trip that I am just trying to lock into the corporate budget and people's schedules.
The routing obviously needs heaps of work and this was just an outline - the places I need to be are HKG, LHR and ATL.
I have recently switched back to QFF from AAdavantage for status benefits as they are easier to accrue - so the point about a BA codeshare AKL-HKG is great.
