CALGARY - WestJet Airlines Ltd. saw its load factor and traffic rise in September, prompting some analysts to suggest a turnaround in the economy may be underway.
WestJet, Canada's second-largest airline, reported a September load factor, or percentage of seats filled, of 77.7 per cent, up 2.2 percentage points from a year ago -- the first positive change since January.
Traffic at Calgary-based WestJet edged up 0.4 per cent in September, the first year-over-year increase since April, when Easter travel boosted results, analysts noted.
