View Full Version : Mexicana Will Match My AA Status?

I'm ticketed for one of Mexicana's $240+ DFW-EZE flights next April (fare gone). I have status on AA...Gold now, maybe Plat by April. How would I ask MX to match that status, and would it do me any good? I would really like exit row seating for the two red-eyes.

I already called MX and supposedly will get AA miles for the travel. If I've made Plat on AA by then, will I get the double-mile bonus afforded to Plats on AA?

Mexicana doesn't seem to be listed in the "Status Match Master Thread" http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/milesbuzz/883029-new-airline-status-match-master-thread.html as either a "matcher" or a "non-matcher."

Thank you.

I don't really think anyone at Mexicana knows what's a Status Match. Really.

In fact, I doubt anyone there will know who to transfer the call to.

But you can always call and hope someone answers the phone....

Let us know.

You don't really need special status to book the exit rows, I bought my seats for the same deal on MX.com and booked the exit rows for both my outbound and inbound EZE flights, must also note that the option to book the exit rows became available around 30 days before my trip.

That said, most people flying the route have reported that the center rows on the 767 have around 35 inches of seat pitch (while the side sections are tighter), so you might want to give those a shot too.
