Finnair Plus - Possibility to status match to Finnair Silver or GoldView Full Version : Possibility to status match to Finnair Silver or Gold hermanni Oct 6, 09, 12:31 pm Take your Star Alliance or Skyteam elite card, get an Italian address for yourself and go to: http://www.oneworld.com/privilegi/en/ bodory Oct 7, 09, 10:21 am It works also in France : - register to Finnair PLus (if not already done) - take a Finnair flight to Asia from Europe between 1st of October and 31st of December - send a copy of your AY boarding pass and a copy of your Flying Blue or Miles and More Elite card - receive Silver or Gold until June 2010 http://www.finnair.com/finnaircom/wps/wcm/resources/file/eb42fb410182f3c/Finnair_Plus_campaign_FR_fr.pdf FB Silver and M&M FTL are comped to Silver FB Gold or Plat and M&M Senator or HON Circle are comped to Gold Raffles Oct 11, 09, 8:33 am With my BA status about to die and an Italy tripm coming up, I am thinking of going for this. From my reading of the Finnair website, if I was comped to Gold then I would retain my Gold status for 24 months from the date of the comp as I have 2 years to get the points needed to requalify. Am I reading this correctly? Thanks. NoWindowSeat Oct 11, 09, 12:09 pm I wonder how many current Silvers/Golds do they dare to drop down if they, let's say, fall 10-20k points short to requalify...Status matches are old tricks during difficult times when airlines are desperate for business but it shouldn't turn against their existing customers. All/most airlines do the same and what's the total outcome? This all decreases the value of FF status in general...more and more crowded lounges etc..do we FT'ers really want that? While I do agree with your thoughts about devaluing FF status, but it's only temporary. Those matched will either drop out in a year or two (depending on the terms of the status match) or requalify on their own right, which makes them "real" :) NoWindowSeat Oct 13, 09, 2:04 pm While I do agree with your thoughts about devaluing FF status, but it's only temporary. I wouldn't say AA Gold challenge shows any more commitment to the airline than this, you can achieve the 5000 points needed quite easily with one long haul return flight. In fact I'd consider that easier to achieve, as in addition to that, you have the option of doing multiple short trips, and the destination is less limited if you decide to do the one long haul thing. |
