Hi all,
Looking at another trip to OMA. THis time PHL-OMA. I really want to fly Midwest because the times are excellent. Here's the rub, I have a 30 minute connection in MKE on the way out, and 35 minutes on the way back. The connections are to the last flight of the night.

1) Is a 30 minute connection in the late spring doable?

2) Does Midwest have a reputation for holding flights (esp. last of night) for disconnects?

Thanks!

I would only do that if your not opposed to the possibility of staying in MKE overnight. If flights are on-time then it should not be a problem (but still no time to waste) The gates are not more than a 6 minute walk away from each other for YX at MKE.

But consider that the later you go into the day, the greater the chance you will experience some delays. Certainly, dont plan on the aircraft being held for you, although I did have YX do this once for me on a last flight of the day deal, but there were many other delayed in-bound connections to accomodate tha evening.

Typically what I have seen is that they wont even put you on the plane if you arent going to make your connection...so you would either be spending the night in PHL or Omaha.

They do typically hold planes if they know it is close enough in range, they really do not want to put people up in MKE overnight, hence the policy of holding people at the origin if they know they arent going to make the connection.

With that, I would probably take the chance.

Though I generally avoid such tight connections, 30 and 35 min are doable. It's a couple minute walk from gate-to-gate, and they very commonly hold the last flight of the night for inbound passengers, unless you're ridiculously delayed.

The flip-side is that I typically won't book a connection on to the last MKE-MSN of the night, because it's always delayed, being held for delayed inbound passengers!
