I wandered over to Randy's "*A mega-do giveaway" thread last night and was astounded to see it had attracted 33,000+ posts in a week! No real surprise given the value of what he's giving away, but I was just as fascinated by the impact the thread will have on some people's post counts.
As I was reading the final page one character there - a newbie from August 2009 - was repetitively posting and his post count was up to about 150. Maybe 20 posts he'd made to 'normal' FT topics in his first month, and the other 130 to that single thread.
And it looked like someone else there was laying claim to 1470 posts in that one thread alone too.
Personally, if I don't recognise an FT name I often have a quick peek at the post-count to ... how would I describe that? ... estimate a poster's credibility?
Maybe I won't be able to do that any more?
